This year’s Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, promised to
incorporate sustainability. Though the games officially start on Friday,
the International Olympic Committee
(IOC) has been committed from the beginning to build a sustainable
future though ethical event planning and staging, innovations in design
and construction, and improvements in energy, water, and waste
management. Sustainability reports and agenda’s from the IOC ensure that
the environmentally safe practices will be incorporated in all stages
of the games—from construction to ethical supply chains and transit
options for visitors.
